Our History

Our house was built in 1840 by a whaling captain named Ezra Cook. In 1946, Peter Hand and his partner Edward Daminger converted it into the first openly gay guest house in Provincetown. Peter had been running this “gay men only” business until he passed away in 1994. Howard Weiner bought this house in 1997, and renamed it to “Howards End Guest House”. Since then, everybody is welcomed. In 2015, Howard’s husband Yi Zhao inherited the guest house after Howard passed away. Now it is owned by Yi and his husband Greg O’Brien.

Our Cat

We have a lovely cat named Acey. She usually welcomes our guests at the door. If you are allergy to cats, and need a “cat free” room, please book room 1-1 or 2-3.
